3.5 Stars!

I just got done reading Beyond and let me start off by saying that this book was not what I was expecting. When I read the synopsis of the story, I was thinking it was going to be very different. However, with that being said, I did still enjoy it! I think I liked it because it kind of reminds me of a TV show that I like to watch. Which means...this story is not something I would normally read. Yes, it did have the usual romance/love story in it, but it also has a bit of science fiction well.

Olivia is 21 years old and is now ready to be married. Olivia is told by her father to pick any guy she wants from their small community to be married to and he will become her husband. So, she picks the one guy that has always caught her eye, Dane. When Dane first hears that she picked him to be married to, he isn't happy about it. Getting married is the last thing on his mind when it comes to his lifestyle. But knowing that he owes Olivia's dad, he's willing to make her his wife.

Their relationship doesn't start off with hearts and flowers, it starts off with Olivia being Olivia, and not backing down from her role in their establishment. She is feisty, stubborn and knows how to take care of herself, not needing anyone else to take care of her. But Dane sees it differently. Now that he will become her husband, he lets her know just how much of a role he will be playing in her life, because after all, she chose him.

Over time their relationship starts to change and Dane soon finds out that Olivia isn't the spoiled princess he always thought she was. They start getting along better, even though Olivia still presses his buttons, and Dane starts getting attached and letting her in more and more....

"You're just different. You're my wife. I didn't want one, but now that I have one, I'm going to take care of you Olivia. I'm the one you come to, to take care of all your needs and I'm not going to abuse that trust. It doesn't matter how we came to be married, what matters is I'm yours and you're mine. You like cuddling all night so I'm going to damn well cuddle you."

I did enjoy reading about Dane and Olivia's relationship, how it started and how it progressed throughout the story. I also liked Olivia's best friend Sam. He seriously was fun and sweet. However, I don't want to go into details too much because I don't want to give too much away. But if you are looking for a good easy read with a lot of alpha male attitude, with twist and turns, you may want to pick this up!
