Conviction by Corinne Michaels: Review by Lys

Conviction (The Consolation Duet, #2)Conviction by Corinne Michaels
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Life is cruel. Love is a joke. And not even death is final." ~Natalie

Conviction begins exactly where Consolation leaves off with Aaron being rescued from captivation and standing before Natalie alive and well. All of the anguish, relief, love, and heartache Natalie feels is written all over these pages. Corinne Michaels has given us a beautiful conclusion to an emotional love story.

"I need her like I need air. But I have to stay away. He's my best friend. He's her husband." ~Liam

When Liam witnesses the reunion between Aaron and Natalie, it is heart breaking. Struggling with what he feels is the right thing to do and what his heart needs, he decides to pull away from Natalie and give her time to digest Aaron's unexpected return. In his heart, Liam knows that Natalie loves him, but he also knows that she has loved her husband for more than half her life. Unable to stand by and do nothing, Liam decides to commit himself to work and embark on a new mission with his fellow Navy SEALs.

"I may be married. Aaron may be alive. But my heart belongs to Liam." ~Natalie

Natalie is a mess. The husband she had mourned and let go of is now alive. All of the emotions from heartache, betrayal, and love lost have returned. She is happy and relieved that Aaron is home, but is struggling with forgiving him and moving forward. She loves Aaron, but she is in love with Liam. She knows that both men want her, but she doesn't want to cause anymore pain to the man she doesn't choose to spend her life with. With one man, she shares a history and a daughter, but with the other that helped her survive her darkest hour, she see's a future. With the weight of the world on her, Natalie must decide where her heart truly resides.

This was such an emotional book. Natalie, Aaron, and Liam's story is one you will want to read. There were definitely a few scenes that left me crying and others that surprisingly had me laughing out loud. This is a must read for fans of Consolation. Corinne Michaels is a talented writer and I look forward to reading more from her Salvation Series.

"Military wives aren't strong because they want to be. They have to be." ~Natalie
