"You're mine now, Lola. For better or for fucking worse. You sent me away all those years ago, but there's nothing you can do to me now. I hated you once. And needed you. And I almost died from not having you."

This book was sooo not what I was expecting! And I'm not saying that in a bad way, I just was expecting a whole different story. From the blurb, I knew there would be some angst, however, I was thinking this was going to be more of a "love" story. Yes, it is a love story, but definitely more on the dark side versus a light romantic one. In the beginning, I was having a hard time connecting with the storyline. I'm not sure if it was because I was thinking I was going to be reading something completely different, or if it was because I did not read book 1.

From the beginning you can tell there's so much hostility and angst between Lola and Blue. The history that they share and the relationship they once had before everything changed, shows through right from the beginning. Lola knows that she wronged Blue in their past, and now Blue is back to get what he's always wanted...her.. When their relationship started it was pretty harsh. No hearts and flowers; more dark and demanding. Let me just say, I have no issues with reading a story on the darker side, so that didn't bother me. It just took me by surprise at first, but nothing I couldn't get over. The first time they were together was so intense and almost degrading in a way. I feel like Blue had so much pent up anger from their past that he unleashed it on Lola. Blue is so demanding and he has no problem telling Lola what he wants and how he wants it. He definitely had a dirty mouth and let Lola know exactly how he felt about her sexually.

"I never stopped wanting you. I fucking dreamed about tasting you. Even when I was overseas, when it had been years since I'd seen you, when I fucking hated you, I still wanted to lick your clit until you came, until you poured your cream on my tongue."

In the end, this story turned out to be a good read. It had angst, lust, and there was suspense when it came to Lola, her job, and a client. I did enjoy the way it ended. I liked that Lola finally was at a place in her life that she felt safe, and I know Blue has everything to do with it.
