BLACKBIRD (Redemption, #1) by Molly McAdams

Blackbird (Redemption, #1)Blackbird by Molly McAdams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Redemption could not have been a better title for this series. After reading and being utterly ruined by Taking Chances -my first and only Molly McAdams book- I swore off all books from this author. My heart just could not take anymore! Even after all these years, I still haven't been able to get over that story. So when I came across the opportunity to read this book, I immediately passed on it. I told myself... Nooo way was I going to subject myself to another story that would rip my heart out! The problem was, I couldn't get the blurb out of my head. I kept thinking about it, and I finally convinced myself that this story would be different. It wasn't a love triangle, it wasn't a college setting, and even more so, it was a dark romantic suspense which I believe to be a new genre from this author. I figured I would be safe from ugly crying and so after much trepidation and with my stomach in knots, I decided to take the leap and read Blackbird . 7 words... I am so freaking glad I did!

Blackbird was fantastic! It was thrilling, fast paced, and had a story line that kept me on the edge of my seat. I LOVED IT! I could not put this book down! It wasn't until after I finished this book and talked with other readers, that I found out that Blackbird is actually the first book in a spin-off series to McAdams' Forgiving Lies series. Blackbird can obviously be read as a standalone and thoroughly enjoyed just as I did, but now, I am frantically 1-clicking!

I am so excited to read the next book in the Redemption series, but I am even more excited that I gave Blackbird a chance as romantic suspense is my most favorite genre. Thank you, Molly McAdams... for bringing me back to you!

P.S. I still don't forgive her for my Taking Chances heart break!

  1. I am such a McAdams fan. Taking Chances was one of my first MM books, and I almost didn't read any others, because I had trust issues with her after that. =) (I have read 7 other MM books, BTW). I am looking forward to this one. Great review!
