The Girl In The Closet by Michelle Heard ~ Release Day

BIRDIE

Escaping an unthinkable nightmare, I’m given a second chance at life. Cole Trenton is the first person to look past the broken girl. But the moment I give him my heart he leaves.

Secrets never stay buried, and mine returns with a vengeance.
Cole walks back into my life when I need him most. He shows me how to be strong, that monsters only have the power you give them.

But my biggest fear remains.
How do I silence the girl in the closet before I lose Cole again?

COLE

I always knew Birdie Liles was different, but that didn’t stop me from falling for her.
After years of being away, I return home to bury my best friend,
only to learn that Birdie’s in trouble.

If I had known about the monster from her past, I never would’ve left.
I went to fight someone else’s war while I left the woman I love unprotected.

But I’m here now, and I’m ready to send Birdie’s demon right back to hell.

This is the first book I’ve read by Michelle Heard. Actually, I lied, it’s my second. Once I started, The Girl In The Closet, I realized it was book 2. I went and downloaded, The Ocean Between Us, to start first! I try to always start a series from the beginning, but after reading both books, if you’re someone that doesn’t mind reading out of order you can probably get away with it. The characters from, The Ocean Between Us, are in this story however, they aren’t a big part of the storyline. But since I like to know everything possible about everyone, I’m glad I was able to read both in order. I really enjoyed both stories. I am now hooked on this series, and I’m already looking forward for the next release!

The Girl In The Closet was not only suspenseful, but it also had me crying a time or two! I really liked Cole. I actually liked all the supporting characters from the series, but the protectiveness that Cole has for Birdie was pretty hot! The fact that he’s a strong alpha added to his appeal! Birdie has gone through so much. Reading stories like these always make my stomach turn. The abuse she went through was horrific for someone so young. Cole was also fighting his own demons, but I liked that they were there for each other...

“You’ve taught me how to look at myself and the world. I no longer see darkness. When I close my eyes, you’re all I see. It’s okay. I’ll be your air, and you can be my light.”
