Cheater by Rachel Van Dyken
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Before I give you my 2 cents, I just want to say that I have loved many of Rachel Van Dyken's books. She is obviously an extremely, talented writer (a Bestselling author, to be exact!) and tells amazing stories. That being said, I am sad to say that Cheater was not one of my favorites. That's okay though, because others have fallen in love with Lucas Thorn, and for that, I am excited! I personally just struggled with the characters and the story line this time. The story was seamlessly written with love and humor, but I just couldn't get past the relationship between Lucas and the Black sisters. I struggled with believing that their families, especially the Black family, would welcome Lucas and Avery's relationship with open arms after everything they had been through over the years. It wasn't the cheating that bothered me, more so it was the idea of two sisters that were okay with knowing that they had both slept with the same man. I would be pissed and grossed out! LOL Prude... prude... I know, "I" just couldn't do that and so for that reason alone, I think I struggled with connecting with the characters. At any rate, would I recommend this book to a fellow reader? YES, I would! Just because it didn't do it for me doesn't mean it's not a great book. Rachel Van Dyken is brilliant, and I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on the opportunity to read one of her books based solely on my little opinion. In fact, I can't wait to read what's next from her. I am counting down the days until the release of book 2, Thatch and Austin's story!
