I Love Story Time's Review
By Lys
"He is my rock when I am unstable, he is my voice of reason when I'm standing on the edge of insanity, and he is the only man I have ever loved." ~Lindsay
Another great read by Rebecca Shea! I think this may just be my favorite one out of the Unbreakable Series. I loved Jess' story and was hot and bothered by Landon's, but Lindsay's story just filled me with so much emotion. What was great about this book was that the reader got to reconnect with these beautiful characters all over again. You get to spend time with Jess and Gabe and fall in love with Landon and Reagan all over again. I loved every moment!
From the very beginning, you can feel the love between Matt and Lindsay. Matt has a love for Lindsay that any woman would be lucky to have. He just melted my heart.
"From the day I met you, I was madly in love with you." ~Matt
Lindsay, still fighting demons and perceptions from her past, struggles to find peace in her life. She loves Matt more than anything, but she is given a career opportunity in another state that would give her the sense of accomplishment and success that she needs to feel worthy and accepted.
There were so many times I wanted to scream at Matt and tell him to not let her go and to go get his girl, but I completely understand why he did what he did. He needed to let her fly and find her own place in the world with or without him. All he ever wanted was for Lindsay to be happy.
"The thing about love, Lindsay, is that when you love someone, you put all of their needs above your own." ~Matt
Lindsay's journey was a tough one to read. Her struggles, her decisions, and her actions broke my heart. As I turned the pages, I couldn't wait for her to find her inner strength and find the strong, sassy girl that we all adored in Undone.
Lindsay was surrounded by so much love...an amazing brother and a man that loved her despite his broken heart. I loved this book. It had an amazing cast of characters and a beautiful emotional love story about the power of love and forgiveness. A must read for fans of Rebecca Shea, the Unbreakable series, and for anyone who just loves a good book! 5 Beautiful Stars!
Excerpts
#1
“Good morning, beautiful.” Light kisses pepper my face and neck. I
grumble and roll closer to Matt, wrapping my arm over his chest, securing
myself to him.
“There is only one fault I can find in you,” I mumble against his
shoulder, my eyes still closed.
“What’s that?”
“You’re a morning person.”
Matt chuckles as he pulls me on top of him and slides his hands down my
bare back. I rest my head on his chest while his fingertips trace my spine and
I shiver at his gentle touch.
“I like when you wake me up like this and touch me.”
“I like waking you up and touching you. I’ll never get enough of you,
Linds.”
#2
All right, everyone.” Lindsay stands up and pushes back her chair
slightly. She wobbles a bit on her heels and rests her hand on my shoulder to
steady herself. “Apparently, tonight is as good as any night to let you all in
on a little secret.” She wipes the palms of her hands down the sides of her
black dress.
“So, for a little over a year now, Matt and I have been seeing each
other.” There are a few chuckles, but mostly everyone sits silently listening
to Lindsay. “We’ve kept it quiet for a while simply because it’s what worked
for us.” She shrugs. “It started off casual
and just turned into more, and we didn’t really make a big deal out of it.” She
looks down at me and smiles the most beautiful, genuine smile I’ve ever seen.
Her blue eyes sparkle in the lights from the crystal chandelier and her long,
blonde hair hangs in waves. She looks almost angelic in the dimly lit room.
“So, cat’s out of the bag.” She laughs
and raises her glass. I stand up and raise my glass next to hers. “To Matt and
me,” she says with a smile on her beautiful face. I lean in and press a long
kiss to her lips while everyone hoots and
hollers around us.
#3
“Two days, Jack. I need two days. Give me
that. Stall them.”
There is a large sigh on the other end of
the phone, and what sounds like a hand hitting a table. “You have until noon on
Monday.”
“Thank you, Jack.” He disconnects the phone
without saying goodbye. I know he’s pissed. I catch a glimpse of Matt leaning
against the doorframe of the bedroom. His head has
fallen forward and he stares at the ground.
“Talk to me,” I say as I walk over and wrap
my arms around him.
“What do you want me to say, Lindsay? It
sounds like you have a great opportunity—and I’ll be damned if I’m going to be
the person to hold you back from that.” His dark brown eyes meet mine.
“What would you do if you were me?” I
ask him.
“That’s easy. I’d choose you because I love you and you mean more to me
than any job or any opportunity. But Lindsay, I won’t stop you from chasing
this dream. You’ll live with your decision for the rest of your life. I never
want to be a decision you regret.” He pulls away from me as he turns toward the
hallway. “But promise me something, will you?” I nod at him as a lump forms in my throat. “Follow your heart. I know
you better than you know yourself and I know how your brain works— listen to
your heart.”
