Dark desires…Deadly secrets…Devious deceptions…Nothing is exactly as it seems in INSIDIOUS, the new erotic thriller from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author ALEATHA ROMIG!
When a powerful man is willing to risk everything for his own satisfaction, only one woman can beat him at his own game: his wife. Or so she thinks…
“Let’s start with you calling me Stewart. Formalities seem unnecessary.”
Stewart Harrington is rich, gorgeous, and one of the most powerful men in Miami. He always gets what he wants. Anything is available to him for the right price.
Even me.
Being the wife of a mogul comes with all the perks, but being Mrs. Stewart Harrington comes with a few special requirements. I’ve learned to keep a part of myself locked away as my husband watches me submit to his needs. But the more he demands of me, the more beguiled he becomes and that’s to my advantage. So I keep fulfilling his fantasies and following his rules because he doesn’t know that what he’s playing is really my game. And winning is everything, right?
INSIDIOUS is a stand-alone novel and the first Tales from the Dark Side title by ALEATHA ROMIG.

Insidious: proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects
Insidious is a dark erotic thriller with twists and turns that I will definitely be thinking about when I hit my pillow tonight. Just WOW! I am a bit disappointed that this tale is the last we’ll see of Victoria, Travis, and all of the amazing characters we were introduced to in Insidious since these are all stand-alone, erotic thrillers. That ending definitely has me saying WTF…I WANT MORE!!
To be honest I was really nervous to read this. Not because I don’t enjoy a good erotic thriller every now and then, but because I know the dark emotions that Aleatha Romig can bring out so effortlessly. She definitely did it again with Insidious!
The whole story is a serious mind-f**k! I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book.
Victoria is a strong main character that was forced into a life changing situation shortly after her 18th birthday. The incredibly difficult decisions she had to make were gut-wrenching. Not willing to let her siblings suffer and not given much time to think, she made the only decision she thought she had.
From the very beginning Stewart was very blunt with his words but it was something that wouldn’t be fully understood until later.
“As I said, you’re not a whore, but one you agree to this marriage, you will be my whore.”
The way Stewart was able to play with her mind and desires left her feeling very confused. She was understandably scared with the situation she was put in.
“You may be frightened, but it’s not of me: it’s of what you’re feeling. Your nipples are telling me you’re feeling the same thing I am. There saying that you like this.”
“..as the unusual feelings made my core clench. It makes no sense. I didn’t know this man, didn’t want this man, yet his mere words were doing something to me.”
So after agreeing and entering a loveless marriage she played the role she was forced to. After the first year her husband’s dark desires started to show her the real reason she was to be his wife, his whore. He introduced her to the “warehouse” and it became a place where all of his dark desires became a reality and her life became something she never imagined. I don’t want to give anything away so I’ll just say, it’s just CRAZY because "...nothing is exactly as it seems..."
Games are played, secrets are kept, and deception is frequent.
“I play the role well.
The grieving widow is new, but I can do it: shaking hands, sad smiles, even a tear or two when necessary.
The acting isn't new. I've been doing it my whole life.”

I was really intrigued by all the characters in this book. I was very captivated by the story and how it was going to unfold in the end. And seriously, that very last sentence had my mouth dropping open in a WTF!!
This is definitely a 5 star read for me!! I would highly recommend Insidious to any fans that enjoy dark, twisted erotic-thrillers!
