Auburn: Outcasts and Underdogs by Valerie Thomas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
4 Stars!
I was approached by the author and asked if I would be interested in reading this book in exchange for an honest review. I will admit, I had not heard of this series, but when I read the synopsis, it immediately caught my interest! At that moment, I decided to give it a try and I am so happy that I did! There were parts that I felt were a little slow, but as a whole, I really enjoyed Ashley, Charlie, and Joey's story. It was really neat to read about the beginning of their journey when it came to their band, Auburn. I felt that it showed the real struggles that people deal with in the beginning stages of starting a band. I liked seeing them grow together as time went on. I also feel that the everyday life that Ashley dealt with between home and school was another thing that most teenagers deal with during their high school years. There is always that one person that will give you a hard time and the struggles of dealing with them is probably something most teenagers go through. I really did enjoy the concept of this story and its characters. I would have liked to read more about the "relationship" between two of the characters vs. their relationship as "band-mates". Overall, it truly was a great story!
