"She was my nemesis, I was her lotus. And payback was a bitch."
I just finished reading Deviant and to be honest, I'm not quite sure how I felt about it. Did I like it? Yes. Did I fall in love with Dean? Not really. I will say that I liked Dean in the flash backs of him growing up. I think I would have liked the story a lot more if it was more about the teen age Dean and not the twisted Dean trying to get back at Tyler! Although, there were some times where I could see the "nice" Dean come out, and I did enjoy seeing that side of him. Dean was hot, but I just didn't connect with him as much as I would have liked to. On the other hand, he was also good at saying things that could make any girl get goosebumps....
"There's one thing you need to know about me, Tyler. I don't kiss. I fuck, and I'm going to fuck you until you see the stars falling out of the sky. Do you understand?"
While I was reading and was about half way through the first half of the story, I was contemplating rating this book a 3. It was good, but at that point in the story, I just felt like I needed more. Then, I met Jeremy. I really enjoyed the side story relating to Tyler and Jeremy's relationship. I found my self wanting to read more about them at times than I did about Dean and Tyler. I loved Jeremy. For me, he made the story. I loved that Tyler took him in as family when he had no one else. The story line with him made me cry like a baby.
Deviant did get really good towards the end. There were so many twist and turns that I didn't see coming between Dean and Tyler. I couldn't believe the way things ended and I was really taken by the surprise in the last few chapters. The ending definitely made up for the lack of connection I had in the beginning of the book. The ending is one that will pull you in and leave you wanting more! So...with that said, I will be reading the next book from this series. I really am hoping to see Dean in a different light and connecting with him the way I did with the "teenage" Dean!!
