*** I Love Story Time was gifted an ARC in exchange for an honest review ***
4 Stars!
When
I realized this book was about someone in the military, but also about
two best friends that become lovers, I was so excited to get started!
Landry and Madeline have been best friends since kindergarten. When
Landry was having a hard day in school, because the kids were making fun
of him, Maddy was there. Whenever Landry went through the hard times in
his life, Maddy was always there. However, it went both ways. When
Maddy's dreams of becoming a swimmer in the Olympics ended, Landry was
there. No matter what they went through, they were there for each other.
Now, Landry has been in a military accident, which caused his life to
change dramatically. Things will never be the same for him. Madeline, as
always, was there for him.....
"I've got this, Landry. We've got this. Don't you worry. We've got this."
What Madeline didn't plan on was the
darkness that Landry would fall into. Landry is having a hard time with
his new life style. He is pushing her away and not accepting any of the
help she is offering. Little by little their friendship starts to
change.
Madeline begins to have a hard time dealing
with fact that he is pushing her away and starts slipping into a
darkness of her own. With the inability to help Landry the way she
wanted to, she starts to turn to alcohol. They both are drowning in
their own sadness, and they don't see what is really going on around
them.
The struggles that they both go through are
situations that many people can relate to in real life. To see that
their struggles were taking their friendship and tearing it apart was so
heart breaking. I'm so glad that one of them finally realized what was
going on between them and pulled it back together. I loved that they
continued to be there for one another to get their lives and friendship
back on track.
I loved reading about them as the grew
up, and how they came together to make things better. I really enjoyed
the parts when Landry would read Madeline's journals. Some of them
brought tears to my eyes knowing how in love Maddy has always been with
him, and how he thought he wasn't good enough for her.
My
saddest memory was about prom night! I felt so bad for her, especially
what Landry did to her. The words that Landry's grandfather told him is
what brought tears to my eyes. As for my favorite quote, it was when
they held each others hands, and at one point in each others lives, they
both said.....
"We'll find you a new dream."
Ugh.... Recalling that gave me
goosebumps all over again!!! Seriously one of the sweetest quotes I have
every read!! I loved Madeline and Landry!!
